Summer Ideas
Cucumber Ragout
  • Spiralize some Cucumbers to make spaghetti
  • Cook some fresh Tomatoes with Garlic, Herbs, Zucchini, Eggplant... any other vegetables coming out of your garden.
  • Pile sauce atop noodles and finish with some fresh, local cheese 
Sweet Corn Succotash
  • Grill sweet corn, zucchini, red onion, and peppers
  • Steam fava beans and green beans
  • Toss together with some home made vinegar
Melon Berry Salad
  • Combine Melons (cubed or balled) with Berries
  • Add any other fruits You have (Peaches, Plums, early Apples)
  • Sprinkle chopped Mint
  • Optional: finish with Sunnyfield Feta or even fresh Jalapeno Peppers

Autumn Ideas

Soups
  • Borscht: Beet, Cabbage, Potato, Carrot, Onion, Bay leaf
  • French Onion: Caramelized Onions, Beef Broth
  • Potato Leek: Sauteed Leeks, Potato, Worcestershire
  • Broccoli Cheese: Broccoli, vegetable broth, Potatoes, Cheese
  • Curry Squash: Your fav Winter Squash, fresh Ginger, your fav Curry 
  • Tuscan Bean: Beans, Kale, broth, Potatoes, (optional meatballs or chicken)

Winter Ideas

Celeriac Slaw
  • 1 celeriac (celery root), 1 apple cut in matsticks
  • toss with 1/2 cup mayo, juice of 1 lemon, 2oz. blue cheese, toasted hazelnuts, (optional: tarragon, dried cherries, frizee)

Hash
  • Slice some potatoes or sunchokes into half-moons and parboil them.
  • Saute some onion/shallots with a pinch of salt to draw the liquid out.
  • Add some brassicas (cabbage, brussel sprouts, broccoli flowers, kale) along with a splash of white wine/vinegar and potatoes to finish cooking.
Serve with runny eggs and toast, or mustard and roast beef.

Spicey Squash

  • Boil or roast your winter squash with spices (cumin, cinnamon, tumeric, coriander, mustard seed, chili) and fresh ginger
Serve with sauteed nettles and garlic.

Early Spring Ideas

Hearty Everything Salad
  • Cook up the last of your dried Beans
  • Hard boil some fresh laid Eggs
  • Harvest some weeds from the garden: Dandelion, Bittercress, Lambs Quarters, Chickweed
  • Toss the beans and eggs into the greens with the last of your kraut or kimchi
  • Add some dried Pepper from last summer

Fresh Rhubarb and Preserved Fruit
  • Slice up some fresh rhubarb and add it to a baking dish along with any wrinkly apples left over from fall, berries from the freezer, canned peaches or dried fruit.
  • Add the last of the jam or apple syrup to taste (rhubarb is sour)
  • Bake at 350 along with any casseroles or roasts that need an hour or so of baking.

Late Spring Ideas

Strawberry, Mint, Pea, Asparagus, Goat Cheese Salad

  • Steam your Asparagus lightly and toss with sliced Strawberries, chopped Mint, Lopez Harvest Snap Peas, and Sunnyfield Farm Goat Cheese in buttermilk ranch, balsamic, or honey dijon vinaigrette.
